Alsace and the Jura in 3 days

Two close regions, three relaxed days: the vineyard villages of Alsace first, then the cliffs and yellow wines of the Jura.

The days

  • ●Day 1 — Alsace, the south
  • ●Day 2 — Alsace, the north
  • ●Day 3 — The Jura

Day 1 is readable in full below — buy only when you know exactly what you get.

Day 1 — Alsace, the south

  1. Leave Belfort

    55 min by the A36

Park at Les Capucins or the station. The motorway south puts you at the foot of the vineyards in under an hour.

  2. Eguisheim

    Place du Château, 68420 Eguisheim

    Tasting, 45 min

Cellars open their doors all around the castle square. Walk in where the door is open — Pinot Gris is the grape to ask for here.

  3. Lunch in Eguisheim

    On the square, 68420 Eguisheim

    1 h 15

Winstub tables sit under the half-timbered arcades. At lunch you rarely need to book.

  4. Turckheim

    Porte de France, 68230 Turckheim

    1 h

A walled gate village with a night watchman still walking it in summer.

  5. Electric bike ride

    Above Turckheim, 68230 Turckheim

    Optional, 1 h 30

The Brand grand cru slopes above the village, then the canal path into Colmar for dinner. Hire at the foot of the village; the ride ends a ten-minute walk from the table.

  6. Dinner in Colmar

Wistub Brenner, 1 rue de Turenne, 68000 Colmar

    2 h

Alsatian cooking done properly. Book the day before. Colmar is 10 min from Ribeauvillé.

Sleep in Colmar, or return to Belfort in 55 min.
